Frank Baldino, Jr., Ph.D.

Chairman and CEO, Cephalon

Dr. Baldino founded Cephalon in 1987 and grew it from a privately held company to the sixth largest publicly traded biotechnology company in the U.S., with 2005 revenue exceeding $1.2 billion. Cephalon expects to propel its annual revenue to $2 billion by 2008 with dramatic growth of its core products combined with new product launches, acquisitions and industry collaborations.

Dr. Baldino has nearly two decades of scientific experience in neurobiology, molecular biology and electrophysiology, and has authored more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature, Journal of Neuroscience Research and Brain Research. Dr. Baldino received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from Temple University. From 1981-1987, Dr. Baldino served as senior research biologist in the medical products department at E.I. duPont de Nemours & Company, where he was responsible for developing research strategies for identifying novel neuropharmaceutical agents.

Dr. Baldino serves as Chairman of the Board of the BioAdvance Biotechnology Greenhouse Corp., is a member of the Executive Council of the Harvard Division of Sleep Medicine, and is a member of the Board of Trustees at Temple University and The Franklin Institute.
