Bill Clift
W. E. (Bill) Clift has more than 30 years of experience in the wireless and telecom industries. As CTO for Cingular Wireless, he directed strategic network planning initiatives, oversaw Cingular's involvement in standards bodies, and coordinated technology development of new products and services. Among his many accomplishments at Cingular, Bill was responsible for driving the adoption of several new technologies which have had a significant impact on the wireless industry, including Adaptive Multi-rate Vocoders, GSM at 850 MHz, and the EDGE packet data standard. Prior to Cingular, Bill held several senior management and engineering positions during a distinguished career at Bell South, including president of American Cellular Communications and Bell South Mobility DCS. Bill is a graduate of Tennessee Tech University (BS) and the University of Memphis (MBA). Presently, he is president and CEO of Optimi Corporation, a developer of wireless engineering software tools. Bill also serves on the Board of Directors for InnoPath Software and OZ.
